The KS 601 series was, first and foremost, a success for Zündapp, as it was this model that made the company famous. Hertweck’s test report, which first referred to the so-called ‘green elephant’, certainly played its part. But compared with its formidable rival BMW, Zündapp had a vehicle on a par with it in its range. The original price at the time was DEM 3,125 which in todays purchasing power is equivalent to around €19,000. This shows that the Green Elephant was only for affluent customers. Our stunning example has French registration documents. That said, we can, of course, arrange and carry out German registration at any time. A full service is required on the Zündapp, as the machine was previously part of a museum collection.
